What types of dental implants are available?

The dental implant is typically made of titanium. When placed by an experienced implant dentist, a dental implant is a safe and proven effective replacement for the tooth root, which is the very foundation of a natural tooth. As you'll read below, dental implant technology is quite sophisticated, so be sure to use a credentialed implant dentist. This will give you peace of mind because you are working with a proven dental implant expert.

The dental implant is placed in the jawbone and fuses, or integrates with, your natural bone. As result, a dental implant forms the stable and sturdy base for your replacement teeth.

Various types of Engadine Dentist dental implants are available, including:

Endosteal implants: These dental implants are placed in the jawbone. Typically shaped like small screws, cylinders, or plates, they are the most commonly used type of implant.

Subperiosteal implants: These dental implants are placed under the gum but on, or above, the jawbone. This type of implant may be used in patients who have a shallow jawbone and cannot or do not want to undergo a procedure to rebuild it.

Engadine Dentist Dental implants also come in different sizes and heights, including standard and narrow (mini). Your dental implant expert is trained to help you determine what option is right for you depending on the tooth or teeth that need to be replaced.

Engadine Dentist Single Tooth Implant

There is no better, long-lasting option to restoring a missing tooth than a dental implant fitted with a crown.

Traditional replacement of a single tooth using a dental implant is often completed over multiple visits:

Consultation and planning, including initial exam, imaging of your teeth, questions about your dental and medical history, and discussion of your treatment options.

Placement of the dental implant, a substitute for the missing natural tooth root, either with or without a built-in abutment (a connector placed on, or built into, the top of the implant) that will attach to the replacement tooth. A temporary tooth can be placed while the dental implant integrates with your natural bone to form a strong foundation for your replacement tooth. Most people return to work the next day.

Placement of the abutment, if one wasn’t placed during the prior visit.

Placement of a custom-made crown, or replacement tooth.

If you have additional questions about dental implants, a friendly dental implant dentist near you is happy to answer them.

Engadine Dentist Multiple Teeth Dental Implants

Replacing multiple teeth using dental implants with individual crowns or with an implant-supported fixed bridge gives your teeth a level of fit, feel and functionality that is not possible with other treatment options. The process is often completed over multiple visits:

Consultation and planning, including initial exam, imaging of your teeth, questions about your dental and medical history, and discussion of your treatment options.

Placement of the dental implants that will be used to support your replacement teeth. Temporary teeth can be placed while the dental implant integrates with your natural bone to form a strong foundation for your replacement teeth. Most people return to work the next day, and any discomfort can typically be treated with commonly used pain medication.

Placement of the abutments, or a small extension that will help connect your replacement teeth, on top of each implant, if needed.

Placement of a fixed, implant-supported bridge, or custom-made replacement teeth (crowns).

Engadine Dentist All Teeth (Full Arch) Implants

Traditional replacement of a complete set of upper or lower teeth (arch) using a dental implant is completed over multiple visits:

Consultation and planning, including initial exam, imaging of your teeth, questions about your dental and medical history, and discussion of your treatment options.

Placement of the dental implants that will be used to support your replacement teeth. Temporary teeth may be placed while the dental implant integrates with your natural bone to form a strong foundation for your replacement tooth. Most people return to work the next day, and any discomfort can typically be treated with commonly used pain medication.

Placement of the abutments, or connectors placed on, or built into, the top of the implant to help connect your replacement teeth, if needed. Additional connecting devices needed to attach multiple replacement teeth to the implants also may be placed at this time.

Placement of custom-made individual replacement teeth or, most often, an implant-supported fixed bridge or implant-supported overdenture

What are Engadine Dentist Dental implants?

Are your Dentures, Missing teeth or other replacement teeth lacking the support you require?

Dental Implants allow you to restore the aesthetically pleasing nature of your smile as well as the structural component of your teeth.

Whether a tooth is missing due to illness or an unfortunate accident, it can have a traumatic affect on the patient. As a Cosmetic Dentist, Dental Implant is a great option creating a Cosmetically pleasing restoration and are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth We can restore the functional and aesthetic properties of your teeth.

Engadine Dentist Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. Dental Implants provide a strong foundation for permanent or removable prosthesis (replacement teeth) that are made to match your natural teeth. They are manufactured from biologically neutral pure Titanium that is accepted by the human body and these implants fuse with the jawbone to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement.

Dental Implants are surgically inserted into the jawbone, providing complete support to Dentures or other replacement products. Over time the jawbone will attach itself to the implant. Once this occurs small posts may be fastened to the implant. Reconstructive Dentistry via Crowns or Bridges or Dentures supported by Mini Implants or other replacement teeth can then be attached permanently into place. Implant Retained Denture

The patient will have a dramatic increase in stability as well as reduced irritation, better taste and oral sores (generally associated with Dentures). Biting pressure will also be restored, enabling patients to consume foods they would have done previously.

Experience the pleasure of a beautiful, healthy smile and make an appointment with Dental Implants we will help you achieve the smile of your dreams.

There are two basic procedure types of implants assuming your quality and quantity of bone is adequate to place dental implant. They are conventional or immediate implants and immediate implants may be followed by immediate loading of crowns and bridges known as immediate loaded implants.

Procedure Types Conventional 2 stage Implants Immediate Implants Immediate Loaded Implants

Steps First stage is placement of implants surgically and implant is buried under gum tissue.

Second stage is minor un-covering implant surgery and restorations. Immediate implants are also known as one day or same day implants. This is the case whereby dental implants can be placed at the same time after teeth are extracted. Implant will be buried under gum tissue. Immediate loaded implants are whereby permanent or temporary crowns or bridges are installed on the dental implants after its surgical implantation. Immediate loaded implants may follow after conventional implants or immediate implant

Advantages Better chances of implant osseteointergration success. Don't have to wait till the extraction site to heal for implant placement, thus cutting down the total treatment time. Don't have to wait till the extraction site to heal for implant placement and restoration, thus cutting down the total treatment time.

Disadvantage Safer and more predictable way

More chances of implant failure due to infection, graft failure, contamination, micro movement of implant. If implant fails, we have to start from removal of implant, possible bone grafting (more time required for grafted bone to mature for placement of implants), and then start from conventional 2 stage. More chances of implant failure due to early loading, more chances of infection due to implant exposed right after placement of implant, contamination, micro movement of implant, If implant fails, we have to start from removal of implant, possible bone grafting (more time required for grafted bone to mature for placement of implants), and then start from conventional 2 stage.

Cost of Engadine Dentist Dental Implants:

Dental Implantology is a fairly new area of dentistry even though it has been around for sometime and the costs are still high. It is mainly due to the more predictable Osseteointergration now days. As time goes on and more and more dentists are involved in these procedures, the cost will come down significantly. Presently, only few dental insurance start to cover dental implants and most dental insurance does not cover dental implants.

There are two major costs involved in dental implant treatment. The first is the implant itself and the second is the restoration (Abutment and tooth or teeth) that is anchored by the implant. Fees for these services vary considerably. Below is the procedures you will be charged for and fees are just approximation of area fees and they may not depict exact fee of our office.

If you have good quality of bone height and width

Dental implant placement (surgically)- $700~$1500

Dental implant Abutment ( post that screws on the implant)- $500-$800

Dental implant Restorations ( Porcelain Fused to High noble metal)- $ 1000~ $1500

Implant supported dentures and bridges are more complicated form of restorations. Please call our office for any questions as they are custom type of restorations.

Supplemental Ancillary Procedures (Necessity of these procedures depend on each individual case)

sinus lift (closed, meaning thru implant site) -$1500 per tooth

sinus lift (open, meaning open flap technique or also called window technique) - $2800 per quadrant

ridge Augmentation ( Autogenous or allograft ) - $2500

socket graft - $600

guided tissue regeneration ( membrane need to cover after grafting) - $ 600

Autogenous Graft Iliac or Tibia ( to build height and width of bone)- $ 8500

The fee per implant placement could be different also by the complexities of the procedures. Range for the fee is due to situations where we might charge more or less for a particular patient treatment due to the difficulties or complexities of the treatment situation. For Example: If Implant being placed at a remote area with difficult to reach area, poor bone quality, Bad Angle for restoration, aesthetic Zone and etc will be usually charged more. Implant being placed is at easy to reach area with good quality of bone and aesthetic is not a concern will be charged less.

Restorations on implants vary to a much greater degree (depends on a case) and individual can pay as much as several thousand dollars for a single restoration up to over $80,000.00 for a complete rehabilitation involving dental implants. Fortunately, there are implant restorations available for most people that are in the realistic range and allow many more people today to find a suitable solution to replacing missing teeth.

Engadine Dentist Single tooth Implant replacement

A missing single tooth surrounded by healthy teeth has unique demands. The challenge is to replace your missing tooth, for both function and appearance, without harming your remaining teeth or gum tissue.

Traditional Bridges to replace Missing tooth Require damaging of natural Teeth next to the missing area to hold the Bridge. However, Dental Implants allow us NOT TO DAMAGE the Adjacent Teeth by placing a single dental implant at the Missing Site.

Appearance

Besides good function, the ideal replacement must look like a natural tooth, both to you and to others.

The solutions possible with a Nobel Biocare implant supported crown take advantage of the best appearance possibilities available in dentistry.

Confidence

The ideal replacement for your missing tooth must also feel like a natural tooth and be easy to keep clean. Knowing your tooth is stable while eating and talking means a lot. You'll also be glad your treatment didn't require grinding your remaining natural teeth.

Security

The long term safety of a single-tooth replacement is well established. Your doctor will discuss with you a treatment plan for long term results.

Engadine Dentist Multi-Dental Implants

Removable partial denture - This alternative is often perceived as uncomfortable and a bit complicated to use. Function can't be compared to that of a bridge. This denture is made of plastic and metal, which affects its look. With no anchorage to back teeth, patients have to adjust to movement of the teeth when they speak or chew. Food often gets under the partial, causing discomfort or "sore spots". However, the installation process is simple, and natural teeth are spared.

The Treatment Steps:

Step1-The first step is to replace missing tooth roots by placing a titanium implant. The implant will remain covered underneath the gum for approximately three to six months. During that time, osseointegration takes place.

Step2-The second step of the procedure involves uncovering the implant and attaching an extension. This completes the foundation on which your new tooth will be placed.

Step3-The final step is the placement of your new tooth. With techniques that ensure optimal size, shape, colour and fit, these replacement teeth will blend with your facial characteristics and remaining natural teeth.

Engadine Dentist Multi-Dental Implants:

Multiple Teeth Replacement

Multiple teeth surrounded by healthy teeth have unique demands. The challenge is to replace your now missing teeth for both appearance and function, without harming your remaining teeth or gum tissue.

In the case of replacing three teeth in the back of the mouth, a fixed bridge anchored to dental implants is the only fixed alternative. Traditional dentures can't offer the same stability or function.

Having dental implants replacing your lost back teeth will give you new, unparalleled strength and stability that allows you to eat what you want. It will also preserve your jawbone and facial appearance.

The Treatment Sequence:

Step1-Before the procedure - Three teeth at the back end of the mouth are missing. The only real replacement alternative is installing a fixed implant bridge. The bridge contains all teeth in one piece and is anchored on dental implants..

Step2-Placement of implants - First, the implants are placed. In some cases, a temporary bridge may be placed at the same time, making it possible for you to function like normal almost immediately after leaving the dentist. This depends on quality of bone.

Step3-Attaching the bridge - The implants need to integrate with the jawbone before the permanent bridge is attached. This is normally done 3-6 months after implant placement. The time will vary, depending on the teeth involved and the cosmetic demands.

Step4-End result - The new bridge will handle all the pressure that your strong, natural back teeth did. You will have a stable and secure solution that allows you to eat what you want.

Alternatives to Fixed Bridge:

Mini Implants MDI

Implant Supported Dentures:

Complete Your Smile with Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are ultra-small diameter (l.8 millimeter width), biocompatible titanium alloy implant screws, conceived and designed over 20 years ago by a dentist, Victor Sendax, DDS. Dr. Sendax originally created the unique design of this unique dental product as a transitional device to help support fixed bridge replacements for lost teeth. His novel theory was that mini implants could function free standing by themselves or in combination with natural tooth supports and/or larger conventional type dental implants. This was a revolutionary concept in dental science.

The most effective use of this unique dental product is stabilization of a lower denture. There are approximately 50,000,000 people in the United States who are "edentulous" (literally meaning lacking teeth) who struggle daily with prosthetic devices. A majority suffer a great deal of discomfort as a result of loose or ill-fitting dentures. Many denture wearers simply withdraw from any type of social engagement as a result of being compelled to wear them. Moreover, it's not uncommon for family members to complain about a denture wearer's disagreeable breath as a result of food being trapped and decaying under their denture prosthesis. Successful placement of the Mini Dental Implant addresses and solves all of these social and practical problems. Denture patients all over the world have experienced relief from loose or ill-fitting dentures from doctors who are trained to place the MDI. Uniquely, the MDI can be utilized to stabilize a denture in a couple of hours by a trained doctor, with the patient leaving the clinic with a stabilized prosthesis.

The standard insertion protocol for mini dental implants calls for four of them to be gently screwed into the front of a patient's lower jaw. This is a relatively painless procedure that can be performed by a general dentist, requiring only a mild anesthesia. The mini dental implants, which are approximately the size of wooden toothpicks, are placed about five millimeters apart in the patient's mandible. The patient's denture is then carefully adjusted by the dentist to allow it to snap onto the four mini implants. The result? A tight fitting, completely reliable system that allows a patient to speak and eat with confidence. The Mini Dental Implants are placed in about an hour's time. Because of the unique, minimally invasive procedure, the minute size of the implants, and the characteristic placement area, the typical Mini Dental Implant patient can enjoy a light meal an hour or so after having the mini implants placed. Further, a denture patient who has had his or her prosthesis stabilized with MDI can remove and replace the denture easily after a little practice, and can easily utilize good dental hygiene. All in all, the MDI is quite satisfying.

Imagine talking, eating and smiling without worrying about how your teeth look or feel!
